The Magnificent Kotobuki Take Off Girls Team Songs: Akatsuki Phantom Thieves Gang– The Grand Notice

Sorry for the wait, here comes one of my favourite songs from Kotobuki and my absolute favourite squadron: the Akatsuki Phantom Thieves! Their chemistry, stories, characters and aesthetics really stole my heart. In a world devastated by conflict, they try to bring a little bit of romanticism, for example, by stealing a fish just to dump it in the lake where it came from to make it reunite with its friends. The “grand notice” of the title refers to the fact they always leave a notice card to announce what they’re going to steal…They’re phantom thieves, after all.

The Magnificent Kotobuki Take Off Girls Team Songs: Canary Vigilante – Kotori’s March

Kotobuki’s world has pirates, mercenaries, thieves and all kinds of lowlives. “What about the cops?”, someone might ask. If you watched the anime, maybe you’d remember about Kamila, the pilot built like Jessica Rabbit who appeared in a few episodes. In TOG, there’s a whole playable Squadron of adorable vigilantes: the Canary Vigilante. Let’s hear their song…

The Magnificent Kotobuki Take Off Girls Team Songs: Gekitetsu Family – JIN

According to the story, the mysterious Yufang came into Kotobuki’s world (called Ijitsu) through portals in the sky and brought with them their technology which they shared with the inhabitants of Ijitsu, living in a post-apocalyptic world without oceans. Apparently, one of the things they brought with them is American style Mafia: gangsters wearing pinstripe suits dealing in all sort of sordid business: alcohol trafficking, gambling, usury and…rock salt, according to the Harukaze specials. One of the playable squadrons in Kotobuki TOG is indeed a Mafia family: the Gekitetsu (“Firing hammer”) Family, my 2nd favourite squadron. Two of their members appear in the Harukaze specials and in one of the closing stills of the movie. This is clearly not enough because Gekitetsu had the most interesting story in the game and their interactions were both funny and interesting. Let’s turn to their team song now…

The Magnificent Kotobuki Take Off Girls Team Songs: Harukaze Squadron – FLAP!

It’s been almost three years since the dreaded end of my favourite gacha game: Kotobuki Hikoutai Ozora no Take-off Girls. The game released in February 2019 (while the anime was still ongoing!) and was shut down in December 2020. Maybe a minor tragedy in that cursed 2020, but I really like Kotobuki’s world and I find it hard to accept this project is dead: no new seasons, no new movie, no games, nothing at all. Not even the end of Darker than Black (which had no second season btw) or the lack of third season for Spice & Wolf was this hard for me to accept. So, why am I writing this after all those years? Because I want to contribute in keeping the memory of Kotobuki alive by translating the Team Songs. Yes, there are team songs and they SLAP because ZAQ is a musical genius. Let’s start with the first one: FLAP!

Bon Kyu Bon wa Kare no Mono Traduzione

Buona lettura!

Songs of the Resistenza: Fischia il Vento

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve last updated my blog. Many things happened in those last months and I didn’t have the time (and will) to update the blog. But lately I felt that I needed to hone my translations skills and here we are: Fischia il Vento (Wind whistles), is a partizan song, one of the most well known.
